Oh, where to begin.
Since sometime last year, I have been reading the books thanks to a friend of mine who happens to be a teacher at a private school. She read the first one on the recommendation of her students and younger sister, then got me to read them. I enjoyed the first one well enough, but from 2 until the last half of 4 they sucked pretty damn hard. But the books are a massive hit with teenage girls, so a film adaptation was inevitable.
I went into this movie with extremely low expectations along with 3 friends. I won’t bother getting into the plot because it’s not worth it. This film was AWFUL! The acting was horrendous, the story equally as bad. Everything about this movie was bottom of the barrel. We laughed at all the wrong places and groaned at all the rest.
What baffles me is how nearly everyone who walked out of that theater couldn’t stop clucking away at how "wonderful" it was. In fact, I’ve been hearing so many people talk about how much they loved it that I’m not positive the rest of the world has gone retarded. It’s the only explanation I can come up with.
Skip this. You’ll thank yourself for it afterward. If you HAVE to see this, wait until next year and just watch it on HBO. In fact, if you want to skip ahead and see a GOOD vampire story, watch True Blood. You can’t go wrong with it.
